Hi all...

I have never owned a sleeping bag but wanted a decent
one for car camping..... NOT backpacking (least not
yet).

I bought a Sleep Cell bag from Costco in size XL.....
dims are 40 inches wide x 90 inches long.

Now I'm wondering if I should get smaller one? Just
get size "large"?

I am man 50 years old 5' 10" tall and 200 lbs. How
should one "size" a sleeping bag for me for car
camping?

I see that large size is something like 34 inch wide 80
inch long.

Bottom line.... which size is bets for me? I want room
especially width wise but don't want a bunch of
material and fabric length wise (just more hassle to
pack)

Two ways to look at it:

The closer fit means your body heat is covering less area, thus it will keep
it warmer (there's a more technical description, but this should do for our
purposes).

However, some people, myself included, like more room to move around in
their sack and to more or less pull the covers over them. For this, your XL
pack is ideal

In conclusion, try your XL pack for awhile and see if it works for you.
Don't invest in another pack until you decide for sure you need it. That
way, if you decide to stick with XL after trying it, you can divert the cost
of that other bag to other things.

Thanks James!

One thing.... I'm amazed at what $30 will buy in a
sleeping bag now days....quality isn't bad at all!!

Of course this is no where near "backpacking"
quality.... but for car/cabin camping not bad at all!

The argument between top-of-the-line quality (at top-of-the line prices) vs.
budget camping will always be around. While I wouldn't use cheap gear for
say, walking the Appalachian Trail or camping at the North Pole, for the
typical weekend backpacking or camping trip, one can get by without spending
a month's wages. I can attest to this from personal experience.

I use one of two bags: a lightweight, mid-temp bag; and a 0-degree mummy.
The lightweight bag is Ozark Trail or something like that available at Wally
World for less than $10. The 0-degree mummy is a Coleman, which ran about
$30-$40. Coleman is criticized by the camping elite, but the way I see it,
Coleman was around before I was and they're still going strong. Their name
is immediately identifiable as meaning "camping."

Like you said, it's amazing what kind of bag $30 will buy nowadays,
especially when you see sleeping bags running $200-$300.

Happy camping

It all depends on the length and width of your penis !!!

Multiply the length of your penis by NINE - Thats the length of your
sleeping bag.

Multiply the width of your penis by TWELVE - Thats the width of your
sleeping bag.

There you have it !!!!
